Wireless Technology has Made Broadband Better

Many people prefer broadband Internet because it is faster, more reliable, secure and affordable. But until recently, when wireless broadband providers such as Clearwire came onto the market, broadband users were still being held back by wires and cables that restricted the movement of their computers. But now that wireless broadband Internet connections are available it’s possible to access an extremely fast Internet connection from anywhere in the coverage area. Without being held back by wires and cables, broadband service is better than ever.

The way that wireless broadband providers like Clearwire connect customers to the Internet is a bit different than other Internet service providers. Wireless broadband providers use short-range radio waves to create a small area where customers’ computers can be networked without wires. Most wireless networks are no bigger than a house, although larger ones are possible. With a PC card, for example, the customer can access their high-speed Internet service at any location throughout the whole city for one flat monthly fee.

After switching to a wireless broadband provider such as Clearwire, a customer need only plug a wireless router in somewhere in the home, which acts as the hub of the computer network. Then they can access the wireless broadband from anywhere in the network, which will typically be a small radius around the home. It is necessary for the laptop to have a wireless card installed, however, which can either be placed inside the computer itself or plugged in though a cable or port. As long as a computer has a wireless card, a window will pop up asking which wireless network you want to connect to. The router will have created a network automatically, generally naming it after its manufacturer.

Now that broadband is available wirelessly, Internet users can get online without plugging their computers into a modem, and it doesn’t slow down the super-fast download and upload speeds. Every computer in the home can be networked together wirelessly, which allows users to share folders and access them from any computer in the network. Wireless technology has simply made broadband better. Learn more about Clearwire here.
